Restylane Efficacy and Safety
Based on clinical studies, Restylane treatments produce a low occurrence of adverse events. The most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve in less than seven days. Restylane has been used by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide and is used in over 70 countries. It is the most studied cosmetic filler on the market and the subject of dozens of publications. It is composed of non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occuring substance. Over time, the body breaks down and eliminates Restylane, unlike permanent fillers. Restylane leaves no scars or other traces on the face. Restylane is FDA approved.
People with severe allergies marked by a history of anaphylaxis Anaphylaxis: accute, severe whole-body allergic reaction. or presence of multiple severe allergies should not have Restylane treatments. Patients who are using blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, as with any injection, may experience increased bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Please inform us if you are using any blood thinning medications.
There may be some redness and tenderness at the injections site, and some post-injection bruising, or mild swelling, which usually resolves itself within a few days. If laser treatment, chemical peeling, or any other procedure based on active dermal response is considered after treatment with Restylane injectable gel, there is a possible risk of an inflammatory reaction at the treatment site.
