IPL in Vancouver – Collagen Stimulation
IPL has helped thousands of Vancouver clients get smoother, tighter, younger looking skin. IPL (intense pulsed light) is a safe and effective treatment for many common skin problems associated with aging.
What are the benefits?
As we age, our collagen production slows down which leads to wrinkles and sagging skin.
Although every IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment will probably produce a noticeable improvement to the texture and plumpness of the skin, the IPL with a deeper wavelength such as the 640, is one of the best for pinpointing collagen stimulation.
(Results vary by individual patient and results cannot be guaranteed)
Am I a good candidate?
If you are a light to medium skin type, have no recent tan are starting to notice fine lines in your skin, then you are an excellent candidate for IPL for collagen stimulation.
How long will it take?
About one hour. Approximately 30 minutes to numb your skin with anesthetic cream and 30 minutes to to treat the entire face.
What will I look like after?
Your skin will be pink and slightly swollen. Most people can cover their skin with powder foundation and go back to their regular activities right away.
How many treatments will I need?
2-3 treatments per year, one every 3-6 months apart would be optimum. However, you will still benefit from one treatment per year.
After taking some before photos, your technician will take you to a treatment room and apply a thin layer of numbing ointment. The ointment will stay on for 20-30 minutes and then your treatment will begin. Your eyes will be protected with safety goggles or laser eye shields. Although you will still see the flashing of the IPL light, your eyes are at no risk and you may feel some mild heat and some stinging through the treatment.
The Procedure of IPL Collagen Stimulation
Prior to your IPL treatment a water based ultrasound gel is applied to keep the skin cool and provide a tracking for the technician to follow.
A numbing cream left on the skin 20-30 minutes prior to treatment aids in making your IPL much more comfortable. The broad spectrum light treats brown sunspots, broken capillaries and stimulates collagen.
Is there a best time to do this?
Even though this treatment is not focusing as much on the surface as would an IPL treatment for brown spots, it is still necessary that you have not had any recent sun exposure. The fall and winter and early spring are the best times of year for IPL. If you are planning for an event when you want your skin to look it’s best, plan for having your treatment 2 weeks before your event.
