Transgender M2F Feminization

Transgender M2F Feminization

When transitioning from male to female there is much more to consider than just the surgical sex reassignment and hormones. The world sees your face first and the differences in male and female facial features are more important than you think in helping you feel fully immersed in your new body and life as a female. Many people opt for Facial feminization surgery (FFS) but for some, the fear of the unknown, risks inherent to surgery,  and possibly looking too much like someone else makes them shy away from permanent, surgical changes.

With cosmetic treatments, the changes will be soft, safe, natural and temporary, which means that you can live with them for some time before deciding on which alterations you prefer. Some people use non-surgical treatment options as a testing ground for feminization surgery, while others prefer non-surgical treatments and use them as their first and only method of attaining a feminine appearance.

Studies have shown that surgical or non-surgical feminization treatments greatly enhance the quality of life of trans women. Our Vancouver, BC medispa offers many M2F cosmetic treatments that will help you on your journey to a new you, including:

  • Jawline contouring.
  • Chin shaping.
  • Nose tip softening.
  • Brow contouring.
  • Softening of facial lines and nasolabial folds.
  • Lip augmentation.
  • Cheek lift.
  • Skin resurfacing.
  • Hair removal.
  • Makeup.
  • Eyelash lengthening
  • Skin care.

Jawline contouring

Men tend to have wider, square jawlines and thicker necks than do women. By injecting a neuromodulator into the muscles in the back of the jaw and down the neck bands, the areas relax, soften and become less prominent and more feminine. Many clients benefit from treatments that slim the face and redefine the jawline.

Chin shaping

Women’s chins tend to be more pointed than men’s chins. Dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane or Emervel can help shape the tip of the chin, resulting in a more  feminine appearance.

Nose tip softening

The nose tip of a female face is less angular. Small quantities of dermal fillers used on either side of the nose tip can soften the angles.

Brow shaping

A man’s brow is often heavier than a woman’s brow. A non-surgical browlift, will solve the problem and result in a wider space between the lower brow and upper eyelid to apply makeup to.

Softening of facial lines and nasolabial folds

An overall reduction of heavy facial lines using a combination of neuromodulators and Dermal Filler treatments will soften the face and make you look younger. This may include filling the tear trough grooves if necessary. A very thin dermal filler, Belotero was designed especially for the area under the eyes.

Lip augmentation

Lip augmentation may be the cosmetic change you’ll love the most. Fuller, sexier lips are distinctly feminine. If needed, a philtrum ( the vertical groove between the base of the nose and the border of the upper lip) may be achieved with filler. The male face tends to have a longer space between the upper lip and the nose, so enhancing the lip borders, cupid’s bow of the top lip, and defining the philtrum, results in a more feminine mouth shape.

Cheek lift

Compared to men, women have higher, softer, and rounder cheeks. The same techniques we use to combat age-related cheek volume loss will also help you attain a more feminine cheek shape. To plump the cheeks, thicker, longer-lasting fillers such as Juvederm Voluma or Perlane are used to build higher cheek bones, changing the face shape from square to a more feminine “V” or heart shape. If a large amount of filler is required we may use a combination of Sculptra and dermal fillers for longer-lasting results that are often economical.

With cheeks and lips, it is important not to overdo the treatment. Dr. Frame is adept at achieving subtle and natural cosmetic improvements.

Skin resurfacing

Most men have more ruddy skin tone, oilier skin and larger pores. A series of Fraxel DUAL Laser or Venus Viva treatments will smooth the surface, reduce fine lines and tighten pores, reducing their appearance.

Hair removal

Although you may lose some body hair with hormone therapy, you will still need to permanently reduce hair, particularly on the face. If you have dark hair and medium to light skin colour, you should get excellent results with laser hair removal. Laser hair removal requires 6-10 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart and should reduce about 80% of your unwanted hair.
