You might first see them when you're talking on a video call, or when you tense your jaw in the mirror: two vertical cords standing out down the front of your neck. They're very common, and the encouraging part is that they often respond nicely to a simple injectable treatment.
Those cords belong to the platysma, a broad, thin muscle that runs across the front of your neck. With time, its inner edges can separate and stand forward, especially when the muscle tightens as you speak, smile or grimace. Because the main driver is muscle activity, relaxing that muscle softens the bands and lets the neck look smoother and calmer. This is sometimes called the Nefertiti approach, as it can also sharpen the line along the jaw.
