LED light therapy is generally well tolerated and is considered low-risk for most people, but it is not suitable for everyone. Temporary redness, warmth, dryness or mild irritation can occur. Eye protection or keeping the eyes closed is appropriate during facial treatment. It should be used with caution, or avoided, by people who are photosensitive, taking medications or using topical agents that increase light sensitivity, or who have certain conditions such as active skin cancer or a history of light-triggered disorders; anyone with a seizure disorder or who is pregnant should discuss suitability first. It does not treat skin cancers or serious skin disease. If a skin concern is significant, persistent or worsening, a medical assessment should guide treatment.
