HydraFacial

HydraFacial is a device-based facial treatment that combines fluid-assisted exfoliation, gentle suction to remove surface debris, and application of hydrating and conditioning topical solutions.

HydraFacial cleansing and hydration

Understanding HydraFacial.

HydraFacial is a device-based facial delivered with a handpiece that applies fluids to the skin under gentle suction. One session usually combines several steps: cleansing and exfoliation, clearing surface debris and pore congestion, and applying hydrating, antioxidant or other conditioning serums. Your skin is left clean, smooth and hydrated, and it's a popular maintenance treatment and a lovely way to prepare the skin before other treatments. We adjust the serums for different skin types. Treatments are performed by our senior laser technicians and cosmetic health and skincare advisors, under the medical direction of Dr. Gidon Frame.

How does HydraFacial work?

The handpiece delivers water-based fluids to the skin surface while using gentle suction. This loosens and lifts away dead surface skin cells, oil and other debris from the skin and pore openings, combining light exfoliation with a cleansing extraction step. Conditioning serums are then applied to the freshly cleansed skin. HydraFacial works at the surface and superficial layers of the skin, which is why it's so comfortable and easy to combine with deeper treatments such as laser resurfacing or medical acne care.

What HydraFacial improves

HydraFacial is offered as our hydrating and clarifying facial and fits into our medical acne skincare program. Moderate-to-severe or cystic acne, rosacea and other medical skin conditions are assessed and treated by our physicians, and HydraFacial can sit alongside that care.

Safety, side effects and considerations

HydraFacial is generally well tolerated. Treatments are performed by our senior laser technicians and cosmetic health and skincare advisors, under the medical direction of Dr. Gidon Frame, and the solutions and serums are chosen to suit your skin.

Common and temporary

  • Redness, mild sensitivity or a feeling of tightness
  • A few temporary breakouts as congested pores clear

Less common risks

  • A reaction to a serum or solution ingredient, such as itching, stinging or a rash
  • Irritation in very sensitive skin, or in skin recently treated with other procedures or strong active ingredients

When treatment may need to wait

  • An active skin infection, including a cold sore
  • Open or broken skin, or sunburn
  • Active inflammatory or pustular skin conditions
  • Recent waxing, threading or hair removal cream on the face
  • Isotretinoin, now or recently. We'll advise on timing.
  • A recent chemical peel, laser or other skin procedure
  • Retinoid or exfoliant use, which may need pausing beforehand
  • Known ingredient allergies
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding. Treatment can often go ahead, with the solutions and serums chosen accordingly.

If you have a persistent or worsening skin concern, or a spot that worries you, it's assessed medically first.

Aftercare

Keep your routine gentle for a short time afterwards: skip exfoliants and retinoids, go light on makeup, and wear daily sunscreen.

This is not a complete list.

FAQ

Questions about HydraFacial.

HydraFacial is a cosmetic cleansing and hydration treatment that works well as an add-on in mild acne skincare programs. For moderate, severe or cystic acne, our physicians can recommend medical treatment, and HydraFacial can support that care.

Most people have little or no downtime and return to normal activities the same day. Temporary redness or sensitivity can occur, especially with sensitive skin or skin recently treated with other procedures or active ingredients.

Your skin feels refreshed straight away, and the benefits build with regular sessions. A consistent home routine helps you hold on to that clean, hydrated feel between visits.

That depends on your skin and goals. Some people book regularly as maintenance, and others time a session before an event or alongside another treatment. We'll suggest a rhythm that suits you.
